MCP Online SUBSCRIBER HELP & SERVICES: Frequently Asked Questions about Member Subscriptions
- Will I receive a password? May I share my password with
others, or is use limited solely to me?
When you complete the subscription activation process, you will create a username and password for yourself. You CANNOT share it with anyone. This includes colleagues, lab members, or students. You are the only one licensed to use this subscription. If others need access, your institution should consider purchasing an institutional subscription.
- What if I forget my password?
We have instructions for what to do if you forget your user name or your password. Details about how to do this will be included as part of the subscription activation process. Access the following website: [Forgot password].
- Why should I get a member subscription to MCP Online?
- Member Subscribers have access to:
- Tables of contents, abstracts, full text searching, full text display, document delivery, PDFs, links to Medline and GenBank, future tables of contents, interjournal links to other HighWire Press journals, and the advantage of having password access to MCP Online from any computer connected to the Internet.

[ASBMB Membership]
Without a subscription you have access to
Tables of contents, abstracts, and full text searching
at no cost and without having to register.
- How can I tell if my institution has subscribed? How do I
get my institution to subscribe?
If your institution has a subscription, you will automatically have access to the tables of contents, abstracts, full-text searching, full text display, PDFs, Medline and GenBank links, and future tables of contents. You'll also see a button at the top of the page confirming you are signed in as part of an institution.
If your institution has not subscribed and you would like to have an
institutional subscription, please contact your local librarian or serials ordering agent.
- Will I still be able to get the paper version? And for how long?
Yes, the print version of MCP will continue to be published for the forseeable future.
- Who is eligible for a Member Subscription?
See the ASBMB Website
for membership eligibility requirements. All ASBMB members receive a free subscription to MCP Online as a benefit of membership.
Institutional Subscriptions are somewhat more limited than Member subscriptions. The special member services are not available to non-member
subscribers, and full-text access from off of the institution's network is not available.
- How can I access the MCP Online if I am not an ASBMB member and I don't have access through an institutional subscription?
You may wish to apply for ASBMB membership
or you may wish to purchase an Individual (Non-Member) subscription. (Without a subscription you have access to Tables of contents, abstracts, and full text searching at no cost and without having to register.)
- How do I become a member of ASBMB?
Information about ASBMB Membership and application forms are available from the ASBMB Website.
